  • Sharks Team Report (Yahoo! Sports)

The Sharks were warned Calgary would be ready, and they knew they hadn't played as well on the road as they'd like. But that didn't prevent San Jose from putting forth one of its worst efforts of the season Tuesday night.

The 5-2 loss to the Flames will give the coaches plenty of fodder to again try to reinforce the need to bear down on foreign ice. The Sharks have two long days of practice before their next game, Friday night at Edmonton.

"We haven't been as strong as we needed to be on the road the past couple weeks," defenseman Rob Blake told the San Jose Mercury News.

Never mind the fact the Sharks have the third-best road record behind Detroit and Boston, they simply have not played anywhere near as consistent hockey away as they do when they're home.

As well as the San Jose Sharks played for the first half of the game, coach Todd McLellan was more concerned about the lackadaisical way his team finished. Mike Grier scored two goals in a game for the first time in nearly two years and the San Jose Sharks held on to beat the New York Islanders 5-3 Saturday night to extend their run of dominance on home ice.

The Minnesota Wild saved its much-needed best game of the month for last. Brent Burns scored at 1:38 of overtime to give the Wild a 3-2 victory over the San Jose Sharks on Wednesday night.
